Motorola Krave ZN4 Video Review

Motorola Krave ZN4 Video Review<br />UnderThe Motorola Krave ZN4 on Verizon has a sexy clam shell design and has some innovation touch screen technology incorporated into the phone. But with competitors like the BlackBerry Storm, iPhone, T-Mobile G1, Samsung Instinct and with the LG Dare being its direct competitor it really does have to come up to scratch to be in the running within the lucrative smartphone market.

Although the design in the Motorola Krave ZN4 is extremely slick it doesn’t really hold its own with its software that seems almost dated compared to the applications you would find on the iPhone or BlackBerry.

The Krave has been based on the Motorola Ming which was hugely popular in Asia but the Krave ZN4 has a unique design with the flip, the flip cover is which appears to be clear actually is made by almost invisible wire mesh that allows you to use the touch screen through the cover. However this can cause problems if you do not lock the phone by accidently triggering apps.

The biggest attraction for the Motorola Krave would have to be the V Cast Mobile TV which is powered by Qualcomm’s FLO TC, you can watch ten channels of TV on the Krave with partners like Nickelodeon, ESPN and Comedy Central.

Scroll down the page and watch the video review of the Moto Krave.

Verizon’s new BlackBerry Storm Data Plans

Verizon’s new BlackBerry Storm Data PlansRIMs BlackBerry Storm has managed to constantly hit the headlines with its release later this month. The Storm will be Research in Motions main competitor to the Apple iPhone 3G. However there has been lots of speculation regarding data plans for the Storm from Veriz

on.

Technology sites and blogs have highlighted the rumours that we will see new data plans from Verizon on November 14. With Howard forums posting supposedly leaked data plans from Verizon it looks highly likely that the Pay-as-you Go data plans could be eliminated completely.

If all rumours are true the BlackBerry Storm could be prevented from having a 10MB Pay-as-you Go data plan or 1X Block after November 14. This could then lead to the Storm requiring a data plan costing $29.99 or more.

RIM, Google Android and Apple: Develop with the best

RIM, Google Android and Apple: Develop with the bestCould Wireless operators lose control due to Research in Motion (RIM), Google and Apple mobile App stores? It wasn’t so long ago that wireless operators were the controllers to all applications and content that made it onto the mobile phones now it’s a playground for developers.

With Google opening its Android developers site yesterday and RIM announcing they will be opening one soon, Apple are now not alone branding specifically for its own operating system, Now BlackBerry and T-Mobile’s Google G1 users can also reap the benefits from the on-line stores.

If we take the Apple App store that opened Summer 2008, we have seen a vast amount of software apps and games designed to run on the iPod Touch and iPhone and according to Apple over 100 million applications have been downloaded from the App store from July 11 to the beginning of September with over 3,000 application available.

It’s good news all round with the new app stores launching with consumers being able to chose exactly what they want for their mobiles, and for developers being able create and distribute their applications, but it’s not such great news for operators as they start to lose control of what is put on their devices.

FCC gives the go ahead for the BlackBerry Storm

FCC gives the go ahead for the BlackBerry StormPatient BlackBerry Storm hopefuls are still hanging around for an official release date to be announced from Research In Motion, still no real news on that front, but they may like to know that the Blackberry Storm has received the official go ahead from the FCC.

Not much else to be gained from the fairly secretive FCC approval report as it doesn’t even specify the actual name of the mobile handset.

However, it probably is the BlackBerry Storm, if you go by looking at the label placement diagram it shows off the rear side of the mobile handset and judging by the world roaming SIM slot, appropriate lines, and button placement it sort of points in the BlackBerry storm’s direction.

Apple iPhone vs. Xperia X1 for Christmas cash at O2

Apple iPhone vs. Xperia X1 for Christmas cash at O2It is looking like O2 are going to set the Sony Ericsson flagship Xperia X1 up against the Apple iPhone to battle it out for the Christmas market, going head to head on price at O2 retail stores.

O2 has announced the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will have a price tag of £100 with a £35 per month contract, which indicates O2’s desire to move away from offering premium mobile phones for free.

However, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will be offered for free on a £75 per month contract, (so not moving away from, more like moving to more expensive tariffs). The Carphone Warehouse however will have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 for free on a £45 per month tariff.

Nokia delivers additional tools to speed connected Java gaming development

Nokia today announced the availability of the latest Software Development Kit (SDK) for SNAP Mobile, its end-to end solution for connected mobile gaming in Java technology. The SNAP Mobile SDK 2.2 provides developers with a number of innovative tools to make it significantly easier to create connected mobile games. New features include a game template, skinable user interface framework, support for J2SE and Bot API. The SDK is available for download through Forum Nokia at http://www.forum.nokia.com/snapmobile.

The new game template provides a complete implementation for all required community functionality such as friends list and chat, with an interface that allows developers to either plug in existing game code, or to use as a basis for entirely new connected games. This template enables developers to concentrate on developing their game, not on the platform requirements, since most SNAP Mobile requirements are already in the game template.

The SNAP Mobile SDK 2.2 also adds support for J2SE, enabling developers to design games with cross platform support. This means that SNAP Mobile games can also be created as a desktop applications or applets to run on PCs and web pages with the possibility to play against the same game’s mobile version. For example, the N-Gage title Reset Generation uses the SNAP Mobile support for J2SE to enable players to compete against each other from a webpage and from their Nokia device.
